The local town is Kucukkuyu which is 3 km. from the village Yesilyurt.
The first few years of the Republic (20s, 30s) saw Black Sea fishermen settling down in and arround
Kucukkuyu creating a local fishing industry. After the big earthquake in 1944, the town
took high migration from the neighbour cities. After a municipality was established, Turkish people from Midilli,
Limni and Girit islands came here and settled in the coast. Today, Kucukkuyu is a nice town having the most beautiful beaches
of the northwest Turkey. Town's air contain the 2nd highest oxygen ratio in the world.
Results of the US scientists' researches in 1971, proved that the 30 km. long beach between Mihli Cayi and Baba Burnu (in the west of Kucukkuyu Town) contains a 10 m. wide 'polen zone' which has a rejuvenating effect on human cells. The scientists declare that these polens come from the pine trees of Mount Ida by the help of the wind. The town has a yacht port. In the beach, it is possible to eat plenty types of fish for cheap. The fish types available in each season are as follows:
