Mount Ida
Within Walking Distance: Zeus Altar is one of the many places of interest close to the village worth a visit. The panoramic view makes it an excellent place to have a picnic. Basdegirmen is a good starting point for trekking in Mount Ida. There is a newly restored mill, its stone structure and water canals have been preserved. The local guard is friendly and a good source of information.Across from the mill is a historical bridge which was once the only crossing over the river on the ancient route to Troy. It can still be crossed on foot. The surroundings boast pine, olive, laurel, quince, pear and plane trees as well as thyme, rosemary and blackberries. Trout and carp can be found in the rivers and can be tasted in the restaurants nearby the water. It's a fair trek up to the waterfalls especially in the summer months when the heat can be punishing but worth it to swim in the extremely cold but invigorating rock pools.
Daily Trips:Visitors to this mountain of legends should not leave without calling at the ethnographic museum in the Turcoman village of Tahtakuslar as well. The spa resorts are open in any season. Kestanbol Spa in Ezine, Gure Resort in Akcay, Kucukcetmi Spa in Kucukkuyu, Aphrodite Resort in Altinoluk are in the daily distance. Shopping at the open air markets of the neighbour towns is an interesting experience. Assos (Behramkale), Antandros (Kucukkuyu), Lamponeia (Altinoluk), Neandreia (Ezine), Aleksandria Troas (Odun Iskelesi), Skepsis & Gebrene (Bayramic) and Pergamon ancient sites are all in the daily distance from Manici Kasri Hotel.
